About

A San Diego solar contractor that's still here in year 10

Perk Solar has been designing, installing, and servicing solar in San Diego County since 2005. We do residential and commercial, we're Tesla-certified, and we still service the systems we install — including ones other companies left behind.

Meet the founder

John Perkins started Perk Solar in 2005 — and he's still answering the phone.

John has been designing and installing solar across San Diego County for two decades. He started Perk Solar with a simple thesis: the industry's churn problem is solvable if a contractor commits to staying. That's why we still service every system we install — and rescue the ones other contractors abandoned.

How we're different

Long-term partners in energy resilience, not just installers

The solar industry has a churn problem — companies that install systems and then disappear when service is needed. Perk Solar built its business around staying. That's why we run Solar Orphan Rescue and service everything we touch.

How we work

Four principles we won't compromise on

01

Honest math

Every proposal is built around your actual rate schedule and demand profile, not a generic kilowatt-per-square-foot template.

02

Real engineering

Roof inspections, structural review, and panel-level design before anything goes on a roof. No surprises at install.

03

Service that stays

We service everything we install. Most customers stay with us for the life of the system — not just the warranty period.

04

Orphan rescue

We service systems other installers walked away from. It's the work nobody else wants and the reason a lot of customers find us.
